Man charged with robbing cash advance store | MLive.com
GRAND RAPIDS -- Indiana native Jason Kelly Gideon made a brief appearance in court Tuesday on a charge that he robbed a cash advance store.
It will not be his last.
Judge Patrick Bowler ordered Gideon to stand trial on a charge of armed robbery as well as being a repeat criminal offender. He faces up to life in prison if convicted.
The 31-year-old is charged with using a box-cutter to rob a young woman at the Allied Cash Advance store at 2440 28th St. SE on Aug. 4.
The victim says she has been traumatized by the event and is in therapy as a result.
"You have no idea how much I've gone through because of this," she said.
Gideon maintains his innocence, but his lawyer, John L. Grace III, is negotiating a possible plea agreement with the Kent County Prosecutor's Office.
In the meantime, Gideon will be in Wyoming District Court on Nov. 7 for a probable cause hearing on a charge that he robbed the Crusader Cash Advance, 823 28th St. SW on July 20.
Also on Nov. 7, he will be arraigned in Hudsonville District Court on two alleged robberies of The Cash Store, 7507 Cottonwood Drive, in Georgetown Township on June 29 and Aug. 16.
Earlier this month, Gideon was extradited from the Indianapolis area after he was taken into custody by the FBI Fugitive Task Force. He was tracked down in a hotel room on Oct. 15.
Gideon is a resident of Indiana, but police say he was most recently living in Jenison.
Gideon remains in the Kent County Jail on $75,000 bond.
